If you're reading this, chances are you've found yourself a bit behind schedule on your dissertation.
First and foremost, don't panic!
We've all been there at some point, and I'm here to tell you that it's not the end of the world.
In fact, with a little action, some help, and a good dose of hard work, you'll be right back on track in no time.
As a dissertation coach, I've put together a handy catch-up checklist for you.
Let's dive in!
1. Inform Your Department
Your department is your ally, not your enemy.
They want you to succeed just as much as you do.
So, if you find yourself lagging behind, it's crucial to let them know.
They're more inclined to support you if they see that you're actively working towards catching up and planning ahead.
However, they will be less sympathetic if they feel kept in the dark.
Communication is key!
2. Request an Extension (if possible)
Let's face it, life happens.
Whether it's a genuine medical reason or a personal issue that has kept you away from your studies, you may be eligible for an extension.
It's with checking your department's policies and asking for one if necessary.
An extension can relieve some immediate pressure and give you the breathing room you need to focus.

3. Make a To-Do List
This step is all about organization.
Make a comprehensive list of everything you need to get done.
This simple act of getting your thoughts on paper can do wonders to alleviate the fear of the unknown.
It allows you to make more rational and informed decisions about what needs to be done.
Plus, it gives you a clear overview of where you stand and what you need to accomplish.
4. Prioritize
With your to-do list in hand, it's time to determine what needs immediate attention and what can wait.
Not all tasks are created equal.
Some are more critical than others.
Prioritizing helps you focus on the most pressing tasks first, ensuring you make the most of your time and energy.
5. Get Started!
Now that you have your roadmap choose one thing from your list and start working on it right away!
You might be surprised at how much better you'll feel once you've taken that first step.
It's easier to keep going after you've started, and every little progress counts!
Remember, everyone stumbles at some point, but it's those who get up and keep going that cross the finish line.
So, take a deep breath, follow this catch-up checklist, and soon enough, you'll be back on track with your dissertation!
